E’ sempre un buon momento per cambiare browser o almeno per provarne uno nuovo. Oggi è stato rilasciato Safari 4, senza la grande pubblicità che ha avuto Firefox, il quale mirava ad entrare nel guinness dei primati per i downolad in un giorno. Apple dice testualmente sul suo sito: “Scoprite il Web in stile Apple con Safari, il browser più veloce e intuitivo del mondo”. Non potevo evitare di scaricarlo. Ho installato il browser su Windows XP e ad un primo test sembra avere una snellezza grafica pari a Chrome e una velocità superiore in maniera evidente a Firefox e ovviamente ad Internet Explorer. Apple punta molto sul suo motore javascript NITRO che promette fare miracoli. Il design sembra avere abbandonato l’idea di essere “Apple like” a tutti i costi. Una funzionalità accattivanete è Top Sites: visualizzazioni in 3D dei siti visitati più di frequente…ma non lo aveva già fatto Chrome come pagina iniziale? Da notare anche la gestione dei preferiti e della cronologia.

I have installed the browser on Windows XP and to a first test it seems to have a graphic slenderness equal to Chrome and a superior speed in evident way to Firefox and obviously to Internet Explorer. Safari non raccoglie la sfida dell’integrazione della barra degli indirizzi con quella delle ricerche, Google essendo il motore di ricerca per eccellenza aveva un interesse maggiore in questa funzionalità. Ho trovato buona l’idea di gestire le schede non in una barra orizzontale dedicata ma sulla barra principale dell’applicazione.
Safari doesn’t pick up the challenge of the integration of the bar address and search textbox, Google, being the motor of search for excellence, had a great interest in this functionality. I have found good the idea to manage not the cards in a devoted horizontal bar but on the principal bar of the application.
