Tutti quelli che utilizzano abitualmente CMS come Joomla!, WordPress e Drupal e che hanno un hosting linux su Aruba si sono imbattuti in vari problemi seguiti da aperture di ticket di assitenza spesso liquidati brevemente e senza soluzione.
L’opinione più comune sul web è quella che Aruba non vedeva di buon occhio i CMS, non tanto per i problemi che potevano causare ai suoi server, ma perchè lei stessa commercializza una versione ultra base di DotNetNuke, ovvero ArubaNuke, e che quindi aveva tutto l’interesse di scoraggiare l’utilizzo di altri CMS.
Ora però, a causa del forte incremento dell’utilizzo di queste tecnologie, Aruba swmbra aver ceduto ai Content Management System, tant’è che dal pannello amministrativo del proprio sito ( admin.miosito.com ) è possibile procedere con l’installazione di alcuni dei CMS pi utilizzati sul web. Una piccola rivoluzione insomma, che spiana ancor più la porta agli Open Source CMS.

Joomla WordPress

Di confronti tra questi due CMS ne sono stati fatti tantissimi e credo che spesso siano inutuli. Non è possibile confrontare Joomla!, che ha un’anima votata al portale, con WordPress, il quale è prettamente per uso blog. Entrambi sono ottimi prodotti che vantano una vasta comunità di sviluppatori ed entrambi sono fautori dell’ Open Souce. Utilizzarli è molto semplice e col tempo è diventato sempre più alla portata di tutti integrarli con componenti esterni (“componenti e moduli” per Joomla! e “plugins” per WordPress). E la parte grafica? Quale dei due CMS rende di più? Una risposta vera e propria non c’è. Un bravo web design è capace di tirar fuori aspetti grafici tali da farci dimenticare, o non accorgere a seconda dei casi, su quale CMS è basato il sito che stiamo visitando. Navigando in Iternet a caccia di templates accattivanti e magari free ci si rende subito conto di due cose: i temi disponibili per WordPress sono molti di più e vengono pubblicati costantemente rispetto a quelli per Joomla!; i temi per WordPress sembrano essere anche graficamente più innovativi. Nonostante ciò è importante dire che deisegnare un template per Joomla! è più facile perchè il codice php va tutto in un solo file: index.php. In WordPress il tema è diviso in più files: header.php template.php footer.php ecc ecc. Un altro punto a favore di Joomla! è la divisione più netta tra il template e i componenti esterni, infatti wordpress a volte richiede di mettere mano al sorgente del tema per poter integrare alcune funzionalità offerte dai plugins.
